Old Friends and New Friends

Liv and I spent the weekend with two fantastic girls -- Shelby and Sophie. I only have a few pics downloaded, but there will be more to come. We had such a wonderful time hanging out with them. Liv and Sophie were fast friends. They kept each other entertained while Shelby and I did what we do best -- shop.

And I just have to share this pic of an emergency diaper change in the grass. Ahh, the things we do now that we would never have dreamed of during our years of law school.

We're in trouble.

If her current attitude is any indication, I have a feeling that Liv's teenage years will result in a lot of gray hairs. She informed me last night that her name is Olivia, O-L-I-V-I-A, and that she does not want to be called Liv or Livy - just Olivia. Ouch.

It is a good thing she is so cute.

The Princess turns 4

Today is our little princess' 4th birthday. I can't believe it.

We had a wonderful weekend of celebration. Grumpa and Bunny came all the way from Denver to help us celebrate. Friday night we went to Trattoria Lisina to celebrate Bunny's birthday.

Saturday was Liv's birthday party at Goin' Bananas Playnasium. Liv had so much fun playing with her friends in the bounce houses. She worked very hard blowing out all four candles.

And when she got home, there was a big surprise waiting for her in our backyard -- her very own inflatable water slide, which she loved.

I quickly learned, however, that the slide was not suitable for moms.

Tonight we will celebrate with a special dinner made by Bunny. Happy birthday, Liv!

Bluebonnets - 2009 Edition

There is nothing quite as beautiful as Texas wildflowers, except, of course, a beautiful girl with Texas wildflowers. Here is the 2009 version of Liv with the bluebonnets.

And, let's take a stroll down memory lane to review previous editions:

2008

2007

2006

I think she just gets more beautiful every year. But maybe I am biased.

Hurricane Mary and Tropical Storm BoBo -- Spring 2009

Sean's mom drove down from Wisconsin last week for a short visit. As usual, everyone had a great time (and needed a lot of sleep afterwards). Mary's energy and enthusiasm is infectious. This year, she brought her side kick -- BoBo. Lucy and Stanley were quite intrigued by BoBo. Lucy was a little more aggressive with her love.

The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo

It is that week in Austin where everything happens at once -- spring break, SXSW, and the fair and rodeo. I don't get a spring break anymore, and I hate SXSW. But this is our third year to take Liv to the Austin fair and rodeo. She has always enjoyed it, but this year she embraced the experience with special enthusiasm.

She informed us on the way there, that she intended to do "everything."
First, the pony rides.

Then, the petting zoo. There was a baby llama that was so cute.

Then, the rides. In years past, she has been a little weary of the rides, but this year, she wanted to ride them all, including the ferris wheel and roller coaster.

And finally, the food.

Just look how big that girl is!

We need a lesson on secrets.

A conversation between Liv and Sean as they drove to school:

Liv: "Daddy! Why'd you honk your horn at that car?"
Sean: "Because he cut me off."
Liv: "Oh, that's okay. When mama takes me to school, she honks her horn all the time."
